30k to go

My name is Hans Dusink and I  live with Linda in the Melbourne suburb of Altona North. Our 4 children have all left home and have their own families. We are the proud grandparents of 8 (soon to be 9).

We are both semi-retired and enjoy the freedoms that it gives us. My passion is the sport of long distance cycling (randoneurring). I like nothing better than to get out on the bike and pedal for hours at a time. One of my favourite sayings is: a bad day on the bike beats a good day at work.

I commenced this field of studies to fulfil both an interest in the mechanics of the internet as well as to meet some professional development requirements.

My interests in movies and music are far reaching although i tend to prefer art house movies rather than the big Hollywood blockbusters.

Hi, Thanxs for comment left on my blog and suggested sites to visit re FTP task. I notice you did NED11 in a previous SP. That will be my next subject for SP1 2009. Please tell me compared to NET11 is it more, same or less work in your opinion. This SP I am doing 2 subjects and I am battling to get to both with a full time job. Would like to know a little more about NED 11 to make some sort of a judgement if I can attempt 2 again next term. Could you comment if you have the time? Thanks.

Hi Louwna, NED11 took up quite a bit of my time. The main thrust of the unit is to design and implement a website. All coding was done in XHTML and styled using CSS. The whole concept was completely new to me. Once you start coding the website it is easy to get caught up in the detail, every time I looked at the site I was designing I would spend an hour or more just tweaking the design , or the color or the words. I found the whole experience very rewarding. I must admit that for part of the Study Period I was able to work on the web design basically fulltime. IMHO this is a unit that is best done on its own if you also have a full time job. Hans
